2D Portals
My first formal work in pragmatic 2D portal compositions. This piece was a collection of curated links, introduced to the viewer as QR codes. The user would then be led through a unique experience interwoven with takeaways like free pdfs. This experiment came together, as a response to my professional search for ways to create a more collective experience when painting murals.
Paper Glass
This work explores the human relationship between technology, and our daily interactions with glass. Questions proposed in the work include, “How does the intimacy experienced with our personal devices change our psychology?”, and “Does the unchallenged racism in the history of image making technologies, and the grossly disproportionate amount of BiPoc visible in the computer science industry, put users at risk of experiencing daily micro traumas in response to fractured self-portraits created by Ai?”
This was my first multilayered piece. Working through how to mount paper on paper, in a sustainable way was exciting and eye opening.
Make America Great Again
Trump Era response by a Colombian-American Queer Woman. Made in collaboration with a sheer black flag, a piece hand sewn by artist Stephanie Syjuco. The artist agreed in exchange for an original print. This agreement was never upheld, due to the fact that the work was lost in migration.
Poorly Done Magic.
All that remains from a body of work that served as a turning point in my image making. I still hold a lot of nostalgia for these ideas, and hope to return to them soon. The title references a prof words after seeing all that remained.
Faux 3D Rendered Rocks, with Self-Portrait on Tattoo Paper.
Experiments with shadows, working towards a 3d rendered look, replicating earth and moss. This line of thinking works towards greenhouse works with plants and chlorophyl prints.
Internet Sadism
A experimental response to a digital illustration and animation by Tracy Ma the Assistant Editor of New York Times Styles.
